Because of it's relatively long and well-documented history (4 years at IBM + 7 years at sourceforge), Jikes RVM is also one of the projects being used in a study of software development by distributed teams by a collaboration between groups at IBM and CMU. Ian A bigger problem for basing the amount of work done on commits is that prior to r10735 a commit script meant that many commits generated an extra commit for the file called rvm/_timestamp/timestamp [1]. This file was modified 3381 times. Any commit prior to this may have counted as double.
