Linux has several apps to open pdf.
(When it comes to not embedded CJK fonts, all of them have issues)
Acrobat Reader Unix 9.1.3 (Linux version)
- Font Packs are also available and needed to use TCPDF not embedded
fonts.
- Although Adobe says that Font Packs may be installed "on demand" this
was not my case but a convenient install script is provided.
- Linux version doesn't bundle Kozuka Gothic, only Kozuka Mincho (the serif
version), but you can simply copy the Sans-Serif font to CIDFont directory.
Evince (based on xpdf, it uses Poppler)
- CID fonts must be embedded or poppler-data installed (a non-free package
of encoding files from Adobe) to render not-embedded fonts.
- Poppler main site has poppler-data-0.2.1.tar.gz
- Did't get the right render.

- xpdf-japanese must be installed to render not-embedded fonts.
