Once build.xml file is modified then definitions.xml throw UTF-8 sequence error.

Hi,
I am getting problem in executing test script.Once I did change in build.xml file then it throw error " invalid byte 1 of 1-byte UTF-8 Sequence <0x94> ". I was used to open these 2 files in Textpad as ANSI. I had also added "encoding=UTF-8" in XML version tagline but not working.Previously it was working fine even without adding "encoding=UTF-8"
I am unable to execute test script what I do.
