0.4.2 release pushed back to January and roadmap update

Hi all,

After discussing the matter with David and Eric on the silc channel,
we plan to push back the next 0.4.2 release to January. This should
let us enough time to merge more stuff into GNUstep (e.g. Camaelon,
EtoileWildMenus and EtoileUI related stuff). And also gives some extra
time to make the release more polished: update Mélodie, fix more
EtoileUI bugs etc.

The 0.4.2 release will require GNUstep trunk because we currently
depend on too many changes/bugfixes made in Base, Gui and Back over
the past months. Which means I'm going to ask on GNUstep developer
list how we can organize more or less synchronized releases of both
GNUstep and Étoilé around the January time frame.

For the next releases that will follow 0.4.2, this should help to
mimize our dependency on GNUstep svn and make possible to have new
releases without requiring a GNUstep release at the same time.

We also currently require the Cairo backend for EtoileUI so I hope to
convince GNUstep maintainers to switch to Cairo as the default backend.

I updated the Étoilé roadmap to better reflect our current status, you
can take a look here: http://etoileos.com/dev/roadmap/

Some new stuff that were not planned for 0.4.2 are now listed: HOM,
Mirror-based reflection, Model description and EtoileSerialize XML
backend with XMPP support. Thanks to Eric and Niels! :-)
The Objective2 abstraction layer written by David has also been
completed earlier than expected.
Some old stuff that won't be completed in time have been moved to
0.4.3 which is now planned for the Spring 2010.

On the updated roadmap, I included CodeMonkey in 0.4.2. I'm not sure
it's really reasonable but it would be nice to have it in the new
release.

I also probably forgot to mention some stuff in the 0.4.2 list…  If
that's the case, let me know.
In fact, I just realized I forgot to mention Just-too-late
compilation… And what Eric recently merged into LanguageKit: Mac OS X
support and an AST interpreter.

btw 0.5 is now planned for 2010 and not 2009 anymore :-)

Cheers,
Quentin.
