I installed 10.6.2 on my MBPro last night without issue.
In contrast, I updated my DUAL QUAD in my studio, and after updating, I couldn't launch iTunes - the icon bounced twice in the Dock stopped (never launching).
I went to set my new Magic Mouse settings I bought for the DQ.
As soon as I clicked the mouse prefs in the system prefs panel, I got the pinwheel of death.
Force quit the system prefs and noted reports regarding core audio and HAL in the log.
Restarted.
Opened the system prefs and had the same problem clicking on mouse pref. My menu bar in the upper right gave me the pinwheel as well.
Forced quit prefs again and noticed the same core audio and HAL issues.
Restarted.
Opened the system prefs and clicked on the sound panel.
Got the pinwheel of death.
Launched the console app and found a kernel problem every second or so being logged.
Force quit the sys panel and restarted.
I figured I'd use Time Machine to get back to 10.6.1. But, when since my system prefs were hosed, I thought I'd use the Time Machine menubar item. However, when putting my mouse up there, I got the pinwheel of death.
I downloaded the 10.6.2 combo and installed it.
That didn't fix the issue.
Next, I thought to yank my MOTU HD896 audio (firewire) interface and my Apogee Duet audio (firewire) interface off the DUAL.
I kept my Blackmagic Intensity Pro video/audio/hdmi card installed internally.
I restarted and a lo and behold, I could access my System Prefs .. iTunes launched etc.
So, I then downloaded all new drivers for my MOTU audio, MOTU midi, Apogee DUET, Blackmagic Intensity Pro ...
and I think I will reinstall WireTap Studio as well.
Anyway, I hope this helps anyone who runs into the same audio issues after installing 10.6.2
K
