I've just put the petcock back together after buying a kit from Sprint Manufacturing, but the thing is leaking petrol from the small hole on the edge of the casting, at the back of the petcock.

If anybody can send me an exploded diagram or explain how to re assemble the thing, I'll do anything as a thank you. Honestly. Mass murder, wrestle an alligator, storm a castle single handed, anything. I'm reaching the end of my tether with replacing the fuel lines and rebuilding the petcock. AARRRGH!

If the diaphram is in tact and properly seated there should be no leaks. Are you 100% sure it is in there the way the old one came out.  It's not a complicated assembly.  Do you have a service manual? The Pictures are in it.

Hi Bob,

I've checked my Haynes manual again, but it doesn't seem to have the information which I need.

It could be worse! You could break one of the "T" shaped feeders that reside
between the carbs. One of mine just crumbled! That's not a fun trip either.

I'm still at that four letter word called WORK...the curse of the drinking class.  So I'll have to try to describe for memory

Sorry I don't have my manual close by.  When I rebuilt my petcock it was a straight forward job.  Make sure you have the Diaphram plunger and spring oriented the correct way.  Remember Vac is applied to the diaphram to open the valve and allow fuel to flow.  The Spring holds the valve closed and is placed on the side of the diaphram that is towards the Vac hose.  If you install it backwards it will leak out of the overflow port.

Whenever you start taking things appart on your bike you should keep a digital Camera around so that you can remember how things look for re-assembly.

HeadLIght Replacement ETC.

by Ed Johnson-3 :: Rate this Message:

I have Haynes Manual #2162. I would like to do two things.
#1. I have burned out a low beam headlight on the right side
headlight,[As mounted on the bike]and need to know how to replace it.
#2 I have a problem seeing the turn signals, and Neutral displays on
the panel.
I would like to replace both with brighter elements without
overloading the stock electrically system.
Please direct me to the accurate pages, or information, that will accomplish
all the above.
TIA
Ed J.
