1995 XV750 Topics
Just wanted to start a post to share information about the 1995 XV750 that I purchased about a month ago.... Runs fine but i did find a noise coming from what I think was the driveshaft on start up and sometimes during deceleration... it sounds actually like a chain thats not tightened.... If anyone can said some light on this let me know... I do see someone else on this site has the same problem.... Cheers...

Just make sure all the bolts are tight and the fluid level is correct in your differential. There is some slack in the differential by design and the system has a whine to it. As long as it isn't something really obvious such as a vibration or loud knocking noise, I wouldn't concern myself about it much. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Re: 1995 XV750 Topics
The rear wheel on the left side of the bike at the end of the drive shaft. There is a round aluminum gearbox on the left side of the bike that the rear wheel attachs to. There are 3 plugs on it. The one on top is the vent, the one on the bottom is the drain and the one about half way up the back side of it is the level check plug. When it is removed, the fluid level should be to the bottom of the threads. It takes a special oil. It is 80W90 Gear Oil with a rating of GL or better.
You should probably invest in a Clymers service manual for the bike. They can be found on EBay for a reasonable price and they contain a lot of useful information.
