Does anyone know the number of the ruling in which the ICZN formally put teriae into synonymy with keithhornei? Also, in what volume would I find opinion 540?

Gev, I see the case as well as a number of comments on it, but still don't see the actual ruling. Harold, any idea off-hand what page? I'm going through it page by page and am getting cross-eyed...

OPINION 1970 (Case 3043)

Odatria keithhornei Wells & Wellington, 1985 (Reptilia, Squamata): specific name placed on the Official List

Keywords. Nomenclature; taxonomy; Reptilia; Squamata; VARANIDAE; Varanus keithhornei; Varanus teriae; lizards; monitors; Australia.

Ruling
(1) The name keithhornei Wells & Wellington, 1985, as published in the binomen Odatria keithhornei and as defined by the holotype (catalogue no. J31566 in the Queensland Museum, collected from Buthen Buthen, Nesbit River, Cape York Peninsula by G. Czechura in 1978) is hereby placed on the Official List of Specific Names in Zoology.
(2) The name teriae Sprackland, 1991, as published in the binomen Varanus teriae, is hereby placed on the Official Index of Rejected and Invalid Specific Names in Zoology (a junior objective synonym of Odatria keithhornei Wells & Wellington, 1985).

Sorry, I don't have the page # for 540, supposedly in 16(7).  If you are using BHL, some of the numbers in some of the volumes are missing. Best to use university library.  They all BZN.

Thanks for the info Harold. I was using BHL and noted that a lot of their pages are blank. Must be on one of them. I also found that the opinion on keithhornei is in volume 58 and the BHL site only goes up to volume 57. My fabulous luck is holding! Better hit the library...
