Hello,
I have a private pilot license, and have used some commercial GPS systems
like the Garmin III Pilot in some of my club's aircrafts. Recently, I have
made some journey with an aircraft without GPS. This worked well, but it
raised the wish to buy a small GPS myself. So:
1. I would be interested in a small GPS system which could be used either
stand-alone (to obtain information at which coordinates I am now, or in
which direction to go to another point) or together with a Linux laptop.
Someone has shown me a Polaris 5in1, which looked quite promising. Does
anyone here have experience with this GPS or can recommend something
fitting my requirements even better? (For example, as much as I have seen,
with that GPS I cannot read my coordinates without a Laptop.)
2. Are there other pilots here who use GPSdrive also for flying? Or is
there some (Linux) software better suited for this?
Thank you very much,
Nicolas
