Here is a way to install Mandriva 2009.0 with KDE 3.5, without installing KDE4
and a lot of extraneous KDE4 stuff that clutters up the apps menu :
- Do a normal install, choosing Gnome as the WM.
- Add all the repositories (
http://easyurpmi.zarb.org is your friend )
- Install task-kde3, which will install most KDE usual progs (except KDM which
you'll have to install separately) and add any other KDE prog you need/want,
to taste.
- Logout, and login into KDE 3.5
- If so inclined uninstall task-gnome-minimal, and everuthing installed
with "gnome" in the name; this saves around 400 Mb, which may be of interest
on a machine with limited disk space (My EeePC for instance) but be careful,
as removing some Gnome apps will also remove rpmdrake ;-3( so check the
dependencies.
Cheers,
Ron.
