2009.1 KDE4 ctrl-alt-bs, etc?

Does anyone know why ctrl-alt-bs and ctrl-alt-Fx key combos
do not work under KDE4 in MDV2009.1?  I found that the latest
X has disabled ctrl-alt-bs, so I re-enabled it.  Now it and the
combos to switch virtual terminals work at the login window,
but they do not work inside of KDE4.  Not being able to change
to a "console" isn't acceptable for some of my work.
Thanks for any help.

You are correct that it should work.  Installed 2009.1 on another
laptop and it works fine.  Finally tracked down problem to issues
I was having with X key bindings on the one laptop.  It is a Dell
Precision M6400, a large laptop, which has a separate keypad.
For some reason the key bindings are odd.  I had already found
that the left and down arrow keys ended up with screwy bindings
so they didn't work.  Also noted that the modifier keysyms are
somewhat strange.  Turns out that deleting Mod4 using xmodmap
fixes the problems with ctrl-alt-whatever.  Not entirely sure why,
but guess it doesn't matter.  Had noticed while playing with that
machine that if I typed ctrl-alt-F1 in a konsole window, I actually
saw a "P" appear on the screen.  That made me realize it was
probably an issue with the modifier keys in X.  Actually, I had
found that if I used the right ctrl and alt keys I could switch to
a VT/console, but then I had to use the left pair to get back to GUI.
Weird!  Definitely a new one on me.  Thanks for the help!
