2009.1 with KDE.
Login screen.
Click on the green on/off icon and select restart x server - (this ensure you are in the same state as me).
Click on a username.
Cursor appears in the password box.
Enter a number as the first character of the password - USING THE KEYPAD, not top line of keyboard.
The first number typed is ignored.
Try again, without restating the x server, and it works.

A bit irritating if you like the keypad for numbers and have a password starting with a number.

Anyone else see this or have I done something wrong?

BTW, this is a regular keypad, part of the main keyboard.

I have seen this in another environment. In this case, the numeric keypad passed a different key (not ASCII) code when it was the first character typed (or it mattered). I don't believe there was anything to be done about it as it seemed to be the hardware.

Thanks for the reply, but I don't think its the hardware as it worked just fineĀ  prior to upgrading (2009.0->2009.1) - no change in hardware.

Please can someone try this on their 2009.1 and see if they have the same issue?

No. A numeric first character works for me, although I have to type
in the user name first as my set-up does not display a list of names
for security reasons. This is in 2009.1.
