23.1; A crash report and another much more interesting bug followup

It did not recover. Indeed I had to force quit it.
I can't reproduce it either. I'm using the same method to post this  
report and 23.1/2.0preview1 is perfectly happy.

I'm a bit crap at unix fettling still, but if you want me to hang  
breakpoints all over it, I'll try my best.
