3.1.0 and 3.1.1 can not save in format other than .odt from writerI just upgraded from 3.1.0 to 3.1.1 to see if that fixed the
problem - it did not. When I click save as in writer the place on the save dialog that usually shows a pull down list for Save as type is just background gray. The checkboxes (automatic file name extension and save with password) are also not there. The text: "Save as type:" is there. I have all the options when I save as in impress and calc, so it appears that just writer is affected. I hate to do it, but sometimes I need to save in MicroShaft Word format so I need the capability back. Any suggestions ? bill --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: users-unsubscribe@... For additional commands, e-mail: users-help@... |

No problem in either version, and all capabilities ("Save as type:", and the checkboxes for "Atomatic file name extension" and "Save with password") are visible and available. > I have all the options when I save as in impress and calc, so it > appears that just writer is affected. That's curious, but I don't know enough to make use of that clue; I can say, however, that your problem is not inherent to OO 3.1, because people save to Word formats all the time. You could just wipe out and reinstall, of course, but then you would lost potentially valuable information about where the problem was. It would be nice to know exactly where the glitch is in the system, and I'm sure there's someone around smart enough to help you find it. Came this utterance formulated by william drescher to my mailbox: > I just upgraded from 3.1.0 to 3.1.1 to see if that fixed the > problem - it did not. > > When I click save as in writer the place on the save dialog that > usually shows a pull down list for Save as type is just > background gray. As well as the normal Windows "Save As..." dialogue which OO.o "borrows", OO.o does have an option to turn on it's own custom dialogue boxes for file operations including "Open..." This option is enabled/disabled somewhere in Tools - Options... I do know that when this is chosen, no automatic file name extension tick-box is present. You may have activated this somehow. Sorry i am not on Windows at present so cannot tell you more specifically where this exists in tools - options. I think i found reference to it in the documentation. Don't know why the save as type options are greyed out, unless perhaps you are collaborating on someone elses work. Try saving as ODT under a different filename first. What OS are you using? WinXP Home I know the capability is supposed to be there. It was, and just disappeared some day. bill --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: users-unsubscribe@... As a workaround I have changed to use the OO save dialog which does allow me to save in other formats, but it would be nice to know why I lost the ability using the win type of save dialog. bill --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: users-unsubscribe@...
