4D/A4D Crashing

Mac OS 10.5.7

4D 2004.8

A4D 4.5r1

There has been an ongoing problem crashing 4D in the SSL component, related
to MS IE 7 & 8.

Has anyone found a way to solve this problem other than migrating to Windows
for the A4D server?

Thanks!

David Ringsmuth

Use Apache for SSL is one solution! I never could get the 4D  SSL
component to work.

I seem to remember hearing about this before, and reported it to 4D.
You can count on it never being fixed.

As Steve said, use apache (or nginx or lighttpd, etc.) in front of 4D.

So is this a problem in 4D's built-in web server, or a but when that
server is used with Active4D handling requests from those browsers?

We use NTK in regular mode with Apache in front. Maybe NTK in SSL mode
would be another alternative? Is anyone here using NTK/SSL with Active4D?

Best,

Brad Perkins

It's a problem with 4D's built-in web server. The crash occurs before
the request even reaches Active4D.

Yes, that is definitely another alternative.
