changed belts twice,1st one throws 2 feet 2nd throws about 10 or 12. shoul throw about 30. anybody have any suggestions....the only thing i never did was change the setting of the pulley to the top notch,i dont know if this will change/help my situation...please let me know. thanks
I have seen this before in changing the belts, the correct belts are critical to getting the same performance out of your machine. This is why I always suggest when in doubt use the original belts. we have had numerous customers call and order the correct belts after substituting another belt and not getting the same distance as they experienced in the past.
Hope this helps.
I have an extra set of original belts and I have taken them with me to compare to all the "alternatives."
I hold them side by side and I can tell you there is a significant difference. Almost 1/2 and inch. The "alternative" belts are not as flexible and when its really cold out they don't bend backwards like the oem ones. I'm not saying you have to spend $42.00 on a belt. I'm just saying there is a difference. I tried NAPA, DAYTON, GATEs, and some no-name brand on Amazon ($.99). They all fit and seems to work but they were not exact replacements for what was originally on the machine. I still think you should be throwing snow farther that 10 feet with them. l
If it is the belt, then that means it is slipping.....
Look for a gloss on the belt, or noise(like it is slipping).
Ive used dish soap on the belt, sounds wierd but dish soap is very tackey after the water burns out of it.
Great test to see if that is the issue.
I am sure you have checked but have you looked to see if the sheer bolts on the augers are good. If they are broke the augers won't feed the snow into the machine correctly and affect the way the blower throws the snow

Hi Jeff33, I have the same problem as you had, the three blades are bent after meeting with a stone! I need to get the blade assy forward and off the shaft. How do I remove the small gearbox in front?
Don't remove the gearbox. You access it from the other end. Remove the whole front snow bucket.
Remove the nut holding the impeller in place. Then remove the bolt on each side of the bucket. Then the whole assembly will slide out toward the front. Give your self a few hours. Stay warm.
Yesss, that did it. With help from my good friend Tom Roy we dismounted the snow front bucket and the transmission belt wheel and could then access the propeller. It was heavily bent but could be straightening out in a vice/clamp. Right now we have a lot of snow in the Oslo area, 50 – 60 cm so it was nice to have it fixed. Thank you!
