7.07 Boot Failure (GRUB?)Screen Messages:
GRUB 1.5 GRUB LOADING Starting Up Never progresses past this point. I am new to Ubuntu and clueless as to how to address this problem. The OS is on a new drive that has shown no flaws. melissa -- ubuntu-users mailing list ubuntu-users@... Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-users |

Just be a bit patient, mailing lists need some time to propagate. I can already see an answer to the first email you sent. -- ubuntu-users mailing list ubuntu-users@... Re: 7.07 Boot Failure (GRUB?)I would install GRUB anew: 1. Start your computer with the ubuntu live-cd. 2. sudo mount /dev/hdax /mnt (x is the number of your / partiton). if you have a separate /boot partition: sudo mount /dev/hday /mnt/boot (y is the number of your /boot partiton). 3. sudo grub-install --root-directory=/mnt /dev/hda Jan Mario Vukelic schrieb: On Thu, 2007-08-30 at 15:33 -0400, melissa wrote: -- ubuntu-users mailing list ubuntu-users@... Hi Melissa, To get more information, please * turn on the pc, * press 'ESC' to get into the grub menu, * then press 'e' on the default boot profile. * Scroll down through the list of instructions 'root', 'kernel', etc and * for all lines, press 'e', * remove all occurences of 'quiet' * and change 'splash' to 'nosplash' * press 'enter' to go back to the listing of options. * When you're done editing all lines, press 'b' to boot. You should now see a verbose list of things happening while your pc is booting and see which item stops the boot process, and then post the results to the list. -- Henk -- http://www.csun.edu/~hpostma/ -- ubuntu-users mailing list ubuntu-users@...
