Hi
I am using RHEL5 OS and using cpio utility for backup. I don't see "-P" option (available in solaris) for preserving ACL's while running cpio. Is there any alternative for this with cpio.
What would be the impact and what do you suggest. Am I missing something here.

# rpm -qa| grep cpio
cpio-2.6-20
# uname -a
Linux ossvm7 2.6.18-92.el5 #1 SMP Tue Apr 29 13:16:15 EDT 2008 x86_64

No, there is not.

It depends on whether you actually use ACLs or not.  If you do, they
will not be stored in archive.  If you don't, there's no impact.

For the time being, nothing.  The support for ACLs are in the plans, but
it is not of immediate priority, so I can't tell when will it become
available.

Sergey
