AGPIX membersI would like to know if AGPIX members who also have their own personal sites separate from AGPIX find the service worthwhile. It appears to me that the two would conflict as far as which site you promote; unless you were using the AGPIX site to promote a different set of photos than you promote on your own site.
Are you making sales from AGPIX keyword searches? I cant imagine that many sales are being made this way. Is its primary function for photographers without individual sites? Any guidance or insights will be appreciated. Allen Russell allen@... allenrussellphoto.com |

Re: AGPIX membersI see AGPix as a form of Internet portal. In that regard, it will appeal to those who wish to keep 100% of permission fees. As a window to the Internet, it's job is to promote your work, though linking to it and mentioning it as part of your own promotinal efforts make sense if you are a subscriber. (Actually, I use it as one of the ways to get our name out there with a lot keywords and have very few images on the site.) We do not use AGPix as a primary website for our collection, but I don't see why AGPix necessarily conflicts with a primary independent site.
I evaluate AGPix the same as I evaluate all promotional efforts for our small agency, meaning it has to earn its way for us each year with sales we get through it. In our particular case, that means the cost of AGPix can be no more than 15-20% of the fees we get through it over time, though we might allow a higher percentage for a few years if we were just beginning with the service. There has been a bit of comment on AGPix over the years here in Stockphoto, so a look at the archives might help.
