AIML Bot for WordPress?

I know this list has been dead lately, so I figured I'd spark a little
conversation here...

I've been working a lot recently with WordPress and was curious if
anyone knows of a decent AIML implementation done as a plugin for WordPress.

The language is PHP with a MySQL backend... and the whole system is
quite well documented.

I was thinking of modifying ProgramE to fit in a widget, but figured I'd
check first to see if anyone knows of a similar project.

Anyone?

Brian

WordPress, as many of you no doubt know, started as a blog system, but
has really grown into a full fledged content management system.

It uses "widgets" to plug in extra functionality, from displaying the
current weather to user management, to whatever.  It is a well
documented development system that uses PHP and MySQL.

The idea I had was to be able to implement a basic chatterbot using this
framework in the hopes of getting more people interested in them.  With
WordPress' ease of use, I think an AIML chatterbot widget that is
stupidly simple to install would be great to increase the number of
people aware of AIML, and hopefully get a few people interested in
making better and better chatterbots.

My idea is to provide a basic bot package that is easy to use, easy to
modify, and free.

Of course, it doesn't take much to embed a basic bot into WordPress if
you know a little PHP, and I've done exactly that here:

http://sandbox.datasquire.net/wordpress/

What I'd be interested in working on is integrating the bot into
WordPress on the back end.  The plugin would utilize WordPress' paths,
SQL settings, etc. A simple web based control panel would allow the
botmaster to set the usual variables.  Ultimately, an integrated AIML
editor would be nice, but that's a lot more work.  A way to upload AIML
files and get the bot to learn them would be sufficient for now.

At the moment, my sandbox installation is just an iframe with a
variation of ProgramE's talk.php reformatted for the tiny space.

Something as simple to install as a WordPress widget that is also free
would be an excellent introduction to people unfamiliar with
chatterbots, and could easily be used as both a starting platform and a
teaser for the commercial bots out there.  Putting links to commercial
bot makers in the admin interface would be very easy to do and could
boost sales for the providers.

This is very misleading.  Actually, it is not what the guy asked for.  I think he was asking for a "stand-alone" integration into WordPress, not a widget that connects directly to your web site.

I agree with the other guy.  It would be cool to have a "stand-alone" widget that would connect to Program-O or Alice on a our own server.

As much as I appreciate tulerpeton's work (it's outstanding, kudos to you), it would be great to have a WordPress integration to our own "stand-alone" install on "our own server".  :)
