Hi

I ran the 6.0.8 installer on Windows XP. But clicking the SmartSVN shortcut still starts 6.0.7.  Control Panel states that 6.0.8 is installed.

C:\Program Files\SmartSVN 6\bin\smartsvn.exe

is 6.0.7.

I have not rebooted.

Any ideas please?

Did you stop SmartSVN before installing? (The installer should do this
automatically, but sometimes it doesn't seem to work.) So in your situation a
reboot might be helpful. If SmartSVN still displays 6.0.7, please reinstall
(having SmartSVN manually stopped before).

Could it be that there was a SmartSVN process still running on your machine,
e.g. with a different user account? It is unclear to me, why MSI does not
detect that some files could not be overwritten and not suggests to reboot.

I am quite certain that no SmartSVN processes were running under other user accounts. I cannot remember the state of SmartSVN under my own account.

Hi David,

Does your account has administrator priviledges, so you run SmartSVN with the
same account as installing the update? Or are you using a non-administrator
account to run SmartSVN and installed the update by right-clicking it and
selecting "Run as administrator"?

Hi,

I experienced the same problems, and may give you some hints:
* I changed my original installation by replacing some libs with pre-6.0.8
   libs announced on this mailing list
* Update didn't work, twice, even when stopping the service and stopping
   smartsvn
* Uninstall left the replaced libs around in the installation folder, and
   I think that this is the reason for the update not working.
* I removed those libs and installed again, now it is working

I've now tried to reproduce this problem on my test-systems (Win 2000 and Win
XP Pro, latest system updates but otherwise clean) using
setup-6_0_7-nojre.exe, smartsvn-build-6_0_7-r9374.zip and
setup-6_0_8-nojre.exe. Unfortunately, I never could reproduce it - installing
the 6.0.8 update always overwrote the manually modified jar files. The problem
is, as long as I can't reproduce the problem, I can't verify whether a change
to our installer script fixes the problem.

Hi

A colleague is running SmartSVN 6.0.5 and reports that unversioned files in deep paths on a network drive are not listed by SmartSVN. I have tried to reproduce this problem with SmartSVN 6.0.8 on another PC but that works fine.

Please can you comment on whether this was a recognised bug that was fixed after 6.0.5, or could there be some other reason for this behaviour?
