connection attributes

I am using ARIS Business Designer v. 7.0.1 and am having problems with placement of connection attributes. I select the connection, right-click, and choose Properties. The connection properties box that comes up only has one property to select called "attributes"; there is no "attribute placement" property like when I select a function or event object.

What am I doing wrong?
