I'm having problems getting good video speed with this adapter:
(FROM lspci)
Card:ATI Radeon X1950 and earlier: ATI Technologies Inc|RS690M [Radeon X1200
Series] [DISPLAY_VGA] (vendor:1002 device:791f subv:107b subd:0184) ATI adapter.
I've tried installing the fglrx kernel but still have poor video speed plus I
loose my broadcom wireless adapter. I've tried installing the ATI propriatary
drivers and get this error message:
"==================================================
 ATI Technologies Linux Driver Installer/Packager
==================================================
which: no XFree86 in
(/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin/:/usr/games:/usr/lib/qt4/bin:/usr/bin:/opt/kde3/bin:/home/ken/bin)

Error: ./default_policy.sh does not support version
default:v2:i686:lib::none:2.6.29.6-desktop586-1mnb; make sure that the version is
being correctly set by --iscurrentdistro

Removing temporary directory: fglrx-install.i6zSCl"

What can I do to get this durn thing to work properly?
TIA, Ken

Unfortunately the ATI proprietary driver (fglrx) does not support your
card anymore.

Your card is only supported by the free ati/radeon driver, which you
presumably have by default.

I don't know much about it, but you could try some options in Section
"device" in /etc/X11/xorg.conf, from radeon driver manual (command "man
radeon"). Alternatively, you could try to configure your video player to
use opengl instead of Xvideo.

Thanks for the info and help.
Are there any older fglrx drivers available that would suppot my card and work
with MDV One?
