About the Yeoman class?

I'd like to try and play as a Yeoman. I've heard it's a challenge to play with this class (something similar to the Knight). Any advice about how to play it, the pros and cons, the best wishes & pets for him, weapons and artifacts, etc.? (I've posted this same message in the classic Nethack Newsgroup in Usenet, but it seems there's no many Slashers hangin' 'round there) :)
