Clive Dilnot Professor of Design Studies School of Art and Design History and Theory Parsons New School of Design, New School University, New York dilnotc@... _________________________________________ Assistant Professor of Design History and Theory Renewable Term Appointment School of Art and Design History and Theory Parsons The New School for Design Opportunity Parsons The New School for Design, a division of The New School, New York seeks applicants for a new renewable term faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor within the School of Art and Design History and Theory (ADHT). The position is focused on the history, theory and criticism of design relative to the built or made environment with an emphasis on issues such as ecological and social sustainability, design ethics, and design activism. Applicants should demonstrate the ability to link analytical study of these areas with critical practice. The School is looking for candidates who are forward-thinking about approaches and methodologies appropriate to address complex twenty-first century global urban conditions, innovative in their pedagogical approaches to activating students' interest in the relationship between theory and practice, and can demonstrate an ability to teach/mentor students at both the undergraduate and graduate level from a variety of disciplines across Parsons and The New School. A Ph.D. or equivalence in a relevant area, as well as demonstrated excellence in teaching, research, and scholarship are required and an established record of publications is preferred. . The locus of this teaching position will be in the School of Art and Design History and Theory. The school offers courses to undergraduate and graduate students across Parsons, and to students in other divisions of The New School.
