Activity and Rails 2.0Is Globalize under active development?
And how well does it work with Rails 2.0 ? I'm doing a re-write of an application that has a international market, and I am looking for the best of the multi-lingual and internationalization tools. -- -Robert Ferney ( Kolbe 4357 Demonstrator / Myer Brigs INTJ ) |

Re: Activity and Rails 2.0Yes, check out github.
http://github.com/heythisisnate/globalize/tree/master and http://www.nateclark.com/articles/2008/06/11/globalize-plugin-for-rails-2-1 I am using this version for a rails 2.1 project with no problems. Re: Activity and Rails 2.0yep, I would hope for a better "official" response, but that fork works pretty well thus far
as for the rest, is globalize going out of "business" ? Did it ever had a roadmap and where did it stop ? On Fri, Jun 27, 2008 at 12:56 AM, Charles Harvey <charleseharvey@...> wrote: Yes, check out github. |

Re: Activity and Rails 2.0Hi Guys,
Most of the Globalize devs are working now on getting i18n support into the next version of Rails. The idea is to integrate basic i18n support which would make it easier and safer to write i18n plugins off of. We're almost finish with this work, and you're all invited to look it over and give us your feedback. Check it out at: http://groups.google.com/group/rails-i18n After we finish with that, we plan to start working on Globalize 2, which will be based on this built-in Rails API. It will probably not be compatible with the old Globalize though. The good news is, there will be less problems of breakage with subsequent Rails versions.
