Adding music to a avi video clip (Blender)All,
Our youngest son is experimenting with Blender and producing short video clips. To which I'd like to add some music. I would not have the time to get into Blender and explore the options of adding music natively in Blender, so I'd like to work with end-product avi clips. What are then the ways to add music to a video clip ? How could I sync a few Ardour tracks to a playing video clip and have the result recorded as a new video clip ? Thanks for any ideas/suggestions/hints. Cheers. _______________________________________________ Linux-audio-user mailing list Linux-audio-user@... http://lists.linuxaudio.org/mailman/listinfo/linux-audio-user |

It requires a special format video so you may be required to convert it beforehand. Then you can compose the soundtrack in ardour while having the video synced. Once you've finished you can export a wav from ardour, and then add it to the original video with avidemux, a GUI for video encoders and tools. > Thanks for any ideas/suggestions/hints. I saw a script mentioned on ardour.org that lets you sync blender to ardour. You could compose/record the music in ardour, export it and get video and audio together in a container (like avi). Video editing software can certainly do this, but there certainly are more lightweight (cli) ways. Re: Adding music to a avi video clip (Blender)What are then the ways to add music to a video clip ? For simple and quick video+music I use Kdenlive. It does not use jack, but importing and editing a/v clips is intuitive and easy. Plus, it gives you wide array of exporting formats with a press of a button. -- Viktor Mastoridis Music-o-Graph & Educator www.MediTera.Co.Uk _______________________________________________ Linux-audio-user mailing list Linux-audio-user@... http://lists.linuxaudio.org/mailman/listinfo/linux-audio-user |

Based on replies I got I thought of the following flow (still to be tested): 1) Use xjadeo to jack-sync Ardour to the video clip 2) Make multi-track music synced to the video 3) Export music as some sound file (probably wav and perhaps 44.1) 4) Use either kino or Kdenlive to load the clip 5) Add the whole soundtrack along the clip 6) Save the whole thing in the desired format This is not dubbing, so some eventual (?) slight variations in time are OK. Am looking forward to try it, but now I have to compile xjadeo since it is seemingly not available for Fedora 8 x86_64. There's indeed a mention of it at ardour.org, from Spetember this year: "Juan Pablo Bouza has a nice short writeup on how to use Blender, the pre-eminent open source 3d rendering and animation tool, with Ardour, so that they share a common timeline." But seemingly there's no friggin link to it ! I can't see where the actual writeup is located. However IIUC, it is only possible to add an existing track rather than edit a session and mix it together. http://www.bijanhemati.com/news_31_How-to-Render-Audio-in-Blender.html Has a video tutorial which explains everything.
