Advanced searching on changed field names in 4.0

We have been doing a couple of field name changes e.g., component becomes team and priority becomes severity, for quite a while. I discovered today that the Advanced Search function is still looking for the old field names. If I try to use the new field names I get an error saying the field does not exist. Is there anything I can do to get around this? I hate to have to send out a list of alternate field names to users who want to take advantage of the Advanced Search option but those are really common fields in searches.

Has anyone found a workaround for this?

Huh? How have you been changing the names? Have you been using the standard customizing text approach as described here?

If so, then perhaps you just haven't identified all the key/value pairs in the properties files.

Yes, we're just doing a search and replace in the jar files. Any pointers on which jar files we might have missed? There are a lot more in 4.0.

When you say "a search and replace in the jar files" you don't really mean that, do you? I assume you mean you unpacked the jar files and looked for property strings with text that you wanted to change and then used those instead?

Anyway, you probably haven't found them all.

Yes, that's what I meant. I'm not actually the one who does that, it's an IT function, but that is how it has been described to me. I guess we will keep searching.

The thread that Neal linked is no longer a good example.  That page describes the infalted language JAR as containing 32 *.properties files, whereas it currently contains only one, "JiraWebActionSupport.properties", and that properties file doesn't contain the text that ktempesta is referencing above.
