AirboxHello group,
I would like to make my car (Fury R1 2003) a bit more suited for the race track as I'm thinking about entering a dutch racing series and one of the key issues that needs to be addressed is the noise. I would like to start by adding an airbox to the car but I'm unsure as to what is the best way to do this. I currently have a pipercross filter on the car and I'm thinking of building a box around this and covering the inside of that box with sound mats and having a large diameter hose going to the front of the car for fresh air. But I believe that the more common approach is to build the box around it with the filter removed and fit a different filter at the end of the hose. Looking I'm very much looking for some good advice and any pointers that you may have. Thanks! Cheers Maarten [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

Re: AirboxI make them of 2mm aluminium to really make the noise go down . if you go any thinner the pulse of the engine will destroy the material to keep the airbox under the bonnet we made a special design for the fury with a fireblade don't now about the R1 if it will fit though. |

Re: AirboxJust an idea...
Look at CBS catalog. You'll see a canister with remote filter housing. All you'll need is to - maybe using your currente filter's base as template - make an airbox, as the filter will be remotely installed. RE: AirboxHi Maarten, Try Peter Kohler (HP Motorsport). He made me an alumium airbox for the Striker that works a treat. Good to hear you're thinking about joining us in the CCRC...it's a blast! :o) Jon. > To: bike-engined-cars@... > From: fisherfury@... > Date: Tue, 17 Mar 2009 20:06:22 +0000 > Subject: [bike-engined-cars] Airbox > > Hello group, > > I would like to make my car (Fury R1 2003) a bit more suited for the race track as I'm thinking about entering a dutch racing series and one of the key issues that needs to be addressed is the noise.
