Where are these airports coming from?  Lookup POI doesn't find them!

My first guess would be that they are part of OpenStreetmap, part of
the map itself rather than the information that GPSdrive draws on top
of it.

OK, So these are a bug in opensteetmap with scale==36000.  Scales 18000 and 72000 don't show them.  In fact, plenty of them are in a lake!  Like n44.53.150 w93.26.414.

Thanks!

if the data is wrong, you can fix it yourself on openstreetmap.org.
the scale dependant display issue may be a bug, may be wrong rendering
rules...

That's curious. How did you get gpsdrive to use Osmarender?

Hi Paul,

So your using tiles at home downloaded maps, therefore osm maps not mapnik
in gpsdrive.

The reason why this one is in a lake is its the Bryant Lake Seaplane Base,
see here on osm:

http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=44.8852&lon=-93.4879&zoom=12&layers=B000FTF

So your perceived problem is with osm as T@H is generated by osm and has
nothing to do with gpsdrive other than using the maps downloaded from
there.

Cheers
Ross

the airport data IS inside gpsdrive. if you have a look at
http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=44.88416&lon=-93.43769&zoom=16&layers=0B00FTTT
and load the data, you will find a node called "Bryant Lake Seaplane Base"

gpsdrive uses the osmarender tile server as download source for openstreetmap
maps, but it t doesn't render with osmarender.

Aha! I'm so used to using gpsdrive with a local database and the mapnik
renderer.

I prefer mapnik, too, but on devices like the N810 mapnik live rendering won't
work...
