Hello all,
<br><br>I noticed some non-blocking errors in the code of chatterbean, which make it GTK-dependant even in console mode. Also, it doesn't work with Gnu Classpath rather than sun JDK.
<br>Therefore i add to make some adjustments in the code which now seems to work properly. How can I submit these fixes to the community, and have them integrated in a new version of chatterbean ?

This is very misleading. Actually, it is not what the guy asked for. I think he was asking for a "stand-alone" integration into WordPress, not a widget that connects directly to your web site.
<br><br>I agree with the other guy. It would be cool to have a "stand-alone" widget that would connect to Program-O or Alice on a our own server.
<br><br>As much as I appreciate tulerpeton's work (it's outstanding, kudos to you), it would be great to have a WordPress integration to our own "stand-alone" install on "our own server". :)

<br>would be an excellent introduction to people unfamiliar with
<br>chatterbots, and could easily be used as both a starting platform and a
<br>teaser for the commercial bots out there. Putting links to commercial
<br>bot makers in the admin interface would be very easy to do and could
<br>boost sales for the providers.

I have a strange and unusual problem!
<br><br>I've inherited an AIML based chatbot which I've poked, prodded and generally cajoled into interfacing with one of the browser-based games I frequent. She can read chat and respond, and she can perform a few functions within the game. It's a handy thing to have :)
<br><br>The problem is that one of the items in the game generates a code string when you're wearing it which looks *exactly* like AIML comment code - <!--viva-->. When the bot encounters someone wearing this item, she ignores them completely and doesn't parse any of their messages due to this comment code. She sees it in her logfile as:
<br><br>Denarius: <!--viva--> Robot, are you awake?
<br><br>and so completely ignores it, since the comment code breaks up the chat into fragments she's designed to ignore for robustness. Without the item she sees:
<br><br>Denarius: Robot, are you awake?
<br><br>and responds accordingly. Is there any way I can bypass comment coding and have her recognise and disregard the item's code, or am I going to have to find a different language to code her brains in?

My understanding was that the Cyc that is made available to the public in

The version he sent me was 29 pages long so I have no idea if that was the full one. I spent some time trying to find it online to no avail. <br><br>While things may have moved on a little in computing power since your work, your findings re AIML and DB's are very interesting and relevant. <br><br>The aim is to release this on 23rd June (Turing's birthday). It combines Wikipedia on top of Cyc with a chatbot on top of that. There are of course a lot of claims for what it is supposed to achieve, but this is somwhat near what I had in mind. In fact as it is open source, the databases are released as RDF so could be quite useful.
<br><br>However, my idea was to use AIML and OpenCyc - probably as separate databases to power a chatbot. I or rather we, need all related software to be installed in one computer, but like you are doing, pull in info not stored as required from the internet.
<br><br>The idea behind this approach is that it should make the chatbot more responsive, and also we are not held hostage by the vagaries of the internet if a website or server goes down etc.
<br><br>Can I ask you if the conversion you undertook from OWL -RDF - AIML was in fact automatic, or did you do this manually? Do you have any advice on how to do this automatically, or indeed what software would you recommend? I looked at Protege to convert from OWL to RDF to XML, but I have no idea if it can be set up to run a script to format it as AIML. Any ideas?

<br><br>In the context of giving a sense of meaning to AI systems and as an example
<br>of the dynamics of generic meaning generation I have written a book covering
<br>the manifestation of our basic categories formation capabilities and the
<br>specialist symbolisation of such.
<br><br>As such I cover the capability of our brains, through oscillations, to
<br>translate emotional, fight/flight, assessments of a context (intuitive,
<br>parallel processing) into a corresponding yang/yin assessment (reasoned,
<br>serial processing) and elicit associated imagery and finer details of that
<br>situation. The book, the Emotional I Ching, covers the theory behind it all
<br>(IDM is summarised in the appendix) and presents a practical example of the
<br>application of that theory.
<br><br>The ISBN distribution is not complete yet and so, as I understand it, one
<br>can only get the book from Lulu (link below) but the distribution once done
<br>will have it available from Amazon etc etc and so on to local bookshops if
<br>they see it and decide to market it.

<br>hexagram 01 details - the ground of it all being in Jung's concept of the
<br>Collective Unconscious that equates with the AI focus on an "upper ontology"

<br><br>I am converting the EIC format into an AIML model as a set of tags to be
<br>plugged-in - the issue is in refinements differentiating primary from
<br>secondary emotions. The IDM abstract domain focus in on differentiating the
<br>neural hierarchy where BENEATH the layer of symbol creation and so multiple
<br>context identifications is a level of meaning that is label-free in that it
<br>covers a SINGLE context. Since the labels levels are dependent upon this
<br>base level for their operation so we can translate a set of labels from one
<br>specialist domain to those of another by exploiting the sameness present in
<br>the pre-labels layer.
<br><br>The IDM abstract domain model identifies the classes of meaning derived in
<br>this single context realm where all labels will point to these classes. Thus
<br>we take specialist labels, convert them to the sameness level classes and
<br>the back up into a different set of specialist labels. In the EIC we use
<br>fight/flight derived classes to translate into yang/yin derived classes.
<br><br>At this level of no labels, and so single context, it is the HIERARCHY that
<br>elicits meaning where this is in the form of applying a class of dichotomy
<br>recursively and so moving from general to particular and creating classes of
<br>possible meanings. Selection of elements of the dichotomy, through
<br>questions, then maps out a path of actuals through the set of potentials to
<br>give us the specific current meaning.
<br><br>There are three classes of dichotomy - symmetric (Equivalence focus),
<br>anti-symmetric (traditional Aristotle XOR focus), and asymmetric (Part/whole
<br>processing, also IMP focus). What is of interest is that the initial
<br>recursive process is mechanistic but given some depth (at least 6 levels) we
<br>see emerge the organic in the form of literal categories suddenly being able
<br>to be used figuratively (efficiently so, less levels lack such) and so as
<br>sources of analogy that is 'hard coded' into the methodology of recursion.
<br>At this level we can get each class to have its properties and methods
<br>described by analogy to all of the other classes - as such we have here the
<br>beginnings of languages.

Like Richard says, there are a number of ways that you can alter the
<br>response depending on the internal state of a person.
<br><br>In earlier discussions (recommend searching the mailing list for this) we
<br>have often talked about a mechanism to display emotion depending upon the
<br>type of inputs a person would send to your bot. Often this system would
<br>incorporate some kind of quadrant of different emotional states and use a
<br>counter to keep track of the internal state.
<br><br>There are of course more ways of doing this. You may even use a different
<br>engine to determine the state and then feed its value into the AIML
<br>interpretation engine to use in the response generation. This is up to you.

I installed ProgramD on Windows Vista. But I can't make the <system> test<br>
succeed. I tried with the prefix cmd /C but all I can get is these answer:<br>

key="programd.system-interpreter.directory">C:\Windows\System32\</entry>*using<br>
*.. *instead of the directory where cmd.exe is...<br>

In windows xp it runs perfectly... but I don't understand what is happening<br>
