Re: Amsterdam LDC?It seems that we have only gotten Pier Kuipers' posting of his talk
and a lot of information about the beer drinking some of us missed. If there is more, I have missed it and I cannot find its mention anywhere. I would love to get some more info about LDC '09. If a bigger thing is coming from Lassosoft - great, but a general list of what is to come might satisfy us poor souls who were not attending. What was announced about the elusive Lasso 9 would be nice. ................................. Kevin Bice 512-879-1653 http://fmpweb.com ................................. Re: Amsterdam LDC?Well, there was a LOT more than Pier's talk and beer happening, I
presume there will be video's posted at some point, and there's a few of us planning to put our presentations on SlideShare. There's also some cool stuff released like ITPages, a Makerator preview, a LEAP™ 5 preview (and other sundry announcements) and lots of other goodies. Sounds harsh but those who go to LDC get the good info :) On 8/10/2009, at 8:08 PM, Kevin Bice wrote: > It seems that we have only gotten Pier Kuipers' posting of his talk > and a lot of information about the beer drinking some of us missed. > If there is more, I have missed it and I cannot find its mention > anywhere. > > I would love to get some more info about LDC '09. Among the many ideas on my list, here are a few takeaways: 1. Enhance security thanks to Bil's two talks on encryption and security. 2. Add a jQuery calendar from Jolle's presentation 3. Ideas on how to optimize MySQL thanks to Jono's presentation. 4. Set up Apache virtual hosts to run Lasso 8.5 and 9 on the same box, from Fletcher's presentation. 5. Learning about Lasso 9 "native" coding and how it works from Kyle. Just uploaded my two presentations to Slideshare: Lfor: <http://www.slideshare.net/iterate/lfor-ldc-present-09> itPage: <http://www.slideshare.net/iterate/itpage-ldc-09-presentation> Besides the info mentioned by Jason (thanks!), there's a demo site for itPage here: <http://demo.itpage.ws/>. I found that the presentation format was more flexible, allowing participants to choose which presentation they were more interested in. My only regret is that I couldn't attend the ones that I missed, so looking forward to the videos. --Eric -- This list is a free service of LassoSoft: http://www.LassoSoft.com/ Search the list archives: http://www.ListSearch.com/Lasso/Browse/ Manage your subscription: http://www.ListSearch.com/Lasso/ |

Re: Amsterdam LDC?SO:
1) First things first --- I wish to publicly apologize to Brian Loomis for failing to include Singletrack in my section of the "Framework Workshop" talk at LDC09. Brian went to the effort of setting me up a dev sandbox where I could dig in and get a feel for it, and I did so, and then completely and utterly neglected to mention it when I spoke. /me is a jerk. Sorry Brian. :-/ When I do a devblog post on the same subject this will be corrected. 2) My talk"s" on jQuery and Asset Management I will be packaging up and distributing code and papers related to my talks at LDC09 There was much interest especially in using polling and AJAX calls to constantly update a page with fresh data from Lasso, and so I will get out first, hopefully by Friday evening. LDC09 was a really good time with many old friends, and there was LOTS of great information traded. Thanks again LassoSoft for it, and thanks to the other speakers for how awesome they all did. Re: Amsterdam LDC?Chris! You made it home ok? <snicker>
I only got some serious Internet on my way home, as I sit my arse in Iceland. I did a bit of a tour afterwards, had a blast. LDC was fantastic. Great place, great people, great information. Amazing how 4 days can evaporate. Like previously suggested, my vote is for Toronto next time. That's in Canada, Steve. Re: Amsterdam LDC?It's Ok Chris,
You mentioned in your presentation that you were covering every one that you were able to set up. Since I gave you full environment I guess I didn't let you set it up (sniff sniff) Also in order to get more Lasso9 time we cut some things on sunday, one was the lightning talk I was going to do on singletrack. After getting the git and the url and atbegin sessions in order plus videotaping and recording the audio, It actually was a welcome break. Think of it as out there, like cambio. Updates coming soon to a github near you. I also neglected a whole set of 6 slides in my URL presentation related to REST and Lasso services showing how to use REST to assist in compiling some LassoApps due to a flashdrive mishap. I'll probably need to do a blog post to catch up on this.
