Any know 4D WAN issues for v11?

Hey All,

I am trying isolate a 4D Client WAN issue. It shows up in the
Foundation 5 Sample Products database (and my system as well).
The issue is simple. If you resize a window (list view), the client
hangs  - even when the resize event is turned off. (- windows or mac
with v11.5 MC2).
The application has no issues on a local LAN.

Just wondering if there are any outstanding v11 WAN issues I should look at.

Thanks,

d

What are you seeing on the Monitor tab of the server admin ui for cpu
usage?

Nothing interesting. The CPU is running around 9%. The Users window
shows 0% for the user logged in.

FWIW - These are two LANs connected via a Sonicwall tunnel. Latency
seems to be running from 70ms to spikes of 160ms.

oh geeez, I hope not.

Are you in the source code? I don't know if this is related to the issue of windows not resizing properly when a trace window is open. Haven't had a chance to check the hotfixes to see if that was addressed.

I have a lot of hopes for 11.5.

Windows not resizing properly when debugger is open.

Justin,

Just checked in v11.5MC3 and the problem is still there.
I've reported this issue in march this year and the bug status is 'in
progress', go figure.
Anyway, its annoying, but I can live with it. I think there are other
more important issues which should be fixed first.

Hi there,

Sorry you didn't get a reply to your bug.  In fact this is "standard
behavior".  Window updates are disabled while tracing.

Note that "standard behavior" means it's not unintentional aka it's not a
bug.  You are certainly welcome to file a feature request to change the
behavior.

Kind regards,

Josh,

I must clarify that I was talking about the editor windows not
resizing properly. Eg when I have the debugger open, I hit the edit
button to edit the current method. The method editor opens while the
debugger window is still open in the background. When I try to resize
the method editor window, the window resizes, but the content does
not follow. So I get an ugly window with white borders to the right
and to the bottom. Or when I make the window smaller, the content on
the right and bottom disappears.
I consider this to be a bug.
For what reason could this be "standard behavior"? At least the
windows in the design environment should be resized properly IMHO.
What do other developers think?

Yes, that's correct.

I understand, but just to be clear this is not a bug.

I apologize but I cannot speak for 4D Engineering.  However this is the
answer I was given in response to the bug report.

Kind regards,

Sorry Josh but if the 4D Engineers intentionally designed it this way
or even if they don't think it's a bug, then they must be smoking
crack. If you can't resize the method editor window, the ability to
open the method editor from the debugger is next to useless. This is
certainly new (and flawed) behaviour in v11. A bug by any other name...

I'd have to agree to call this a bug, as 4D didn't behave this way in previous versions.

And don't forget the odd form event behavior that also happens when the debugging window is open.
