Any technical info?Hi all:
I'm new to OSCAR EMR, but have many, many years of experience in technology and in healthcare, including HL7 2.x & 3.0 (especially CDA and CCR stuff), Ubuntu, Tomcat, Java, networking, security, etc. Nice to see a solid EMR as open source! I've gotten Oscar 9.06 running on a Ubuntu Jaunty virtual machine, under Tomcat 6.0.20 (the latest). Took a bit of tweaking to support the 6.0.20 Tomcat, but I've managed to do it (ping me if anyone is interested what it took...not that much). We use Tomcat 6 for other things, so I didn't want to regress to the 5.5 version which is standard with Ubuntu. I was wondering if there was any more detailed technical documentation available? Doesn't seem to be anything posted on the main web site. Things like: Database Schema (showing table relationships....ER diagrams perhaps?) Database overview...high level overview of key tables Code structure overview Concepts/Functional specs and the like? Re: Any technical info?
Hello Andrzej,
I'm fairly new to the OSCAR-game myself, and I did the same thing as you: Install on Tomcat 6.0.20. A bit of caution there: Tomcat 6.0.20 is rather well backwards compatible with Tomcat 5.5.X, however not quite. I ran into a screen that didn't work in 6.0.20, and reported that to Jay. Jay knew about the cause, and fixed that screen (it had something to do with the fact that Tomcat 6.0.20 is more strict on requiring quotes in some places). I don't know whether meanwhile a developer searched all the jsp's for this issue, or whether the software has been validated to run on Tomcat 6.0.X, but if not, it might be safer to run on a 5.5.x version. I've got one document to add that might be useful for somebody with your developer skills: A document on how to get the project going under the Netbeans IDE. The document should be on the OSCARcanada website, but at the time due to technical issues with the site at the time it didn't quite make it (I don't know whether the issues have been resolved meanwhile, and try to get it there). The temporary links to the document are: - http://members.shaw.ca/aart.de.vries/OscarUnderNetbeans.pdf - http://members.shaw.ca/aart.de.vries/OscarUnderNetbeans.odt Aart Robbie Coull wrote:
