the current selenium tests are quite hard to navigate:
- multiple different folders (it-resources vs resources)
- unnecessary configuration (a lot of Tomcat config instead of just the files that need changing)
- complicated POM and no documentation of the profiles
- poor formatting in the source code (tabs, etc)
- poor hierarchy (required to call open() then open( ... ) in sequence - should have all the init in one class and use TestNG to order)

I think this could use some cleaning up

I am having the same problem and it breaks my existing build after cleaning repo. Besides I am not directly using java.net repository but some artifact that itself adds this repo to resolve additional dependencies.
This is a really critical problem. I do not even know how to overrule the order of the repositories that are searched and java.net comes first delivering broken pom files.

in case somebody searches for a workaround:

we had the same problem but with Archiva 1.2.2 we have been able to remove it using the "Delete Artifact" menu.

Not as efficient as automatic updating the DB, but at least the wrong version was gone.

I haven't tested if "Delete Artifact" would delete an artifact from DB also if it does not exist on the repository (I have manually added it before deleting)

When requesting pages over more than one proxy, I see in the "Administration"/"Repositories" view:

WebDAV URL https://proxy1.xxx.com, proxy2.xx.com/archiva/repository/internal/

Both proxies run apache mod_proxy (http).

Taking just the outermost proxy in the 'X-Forwarded-Host' HTTP field (first one) in
'archiva-modules/archiva-web/archiva-webapp/src/main/java/org/apache/maven/archiva/web/util/ContextUtils.java
solved the problem for me (see attached changed ContextUtils.java).
