I am a student at NCSU in GIS and would like to ask the opinion of the
professionals:
In ArcMap when editing a shape file like a road file is it a problem that
the attribute file is not auto updated when you modify a feature on the map.
I does auto-update when you add or delete a feature but not when you modify
or reshape a feature. It will update when you recalculate geometry on a
column but then the length doesn't match the nodes. Then you must recalc
the nodes and every other geometry based feature in the table. I was a
Database administrator of accounting systems previously and data integrity
is very important. What does this do to the data integrity???
Secondly if you work in this area please tell me how you verify that the
black box of calculate geometry is calculating correctly? Do you have to
have people survey the roads??
