Hello,

I frequently posted message's on this newsgroup related on
chan_mobile. So far I was not able to get chan_mobile working on the
NSLU2. I very interested to get it going, so here I am again with
questions.

Half a year ago I tried chan_mobile asterisk 1.6 (Beta) on optware
(Unslung 6.8). It was almost working except no sound (so actually not
usable) because the Bluetooth Module SCO is not implemented on
Unslung.

A month ago I tried chan_mobile asterisk 1.6 (Beta) optware on
openwrt. The intention to use the Bluetooth stack of openwrt. However
the dynamic modules (including chan_mobile) did not register.

Now Asterisk 1.6 is released I decided to give it a try again.
(optware on openwrt) However I still got the message:
[Nov 10 01:16:14] WARNING[4177]: loader.c:384 load_dynamic_module:
Module 'chan_mobile.so' did not register itself during load
[Nov 10 01:16:14] WARNING[4177]: loader.c:662 load_resource:
Module 'chan_mobile.so' could not be loaded.

So still no luck. My questions:
- Is there anyone out there who got chan_mobile working (on
optware, openwrt, any other)?
- On openwrt. Do I need some system module to make the asterisk
dynamic module loader work?
- It seems that some very basic is wrong (Every addon module
does not register it self) So in a way this needs to be solved
somehow. Could it be possible it is some compile option on the addon
modules is not set right?

Is there anyone out there who could give some guidance!
Thanks in advance

I have it working pretty OK here, but I run real debian not one of the
"little" distros.  I had to compile asterisk 1.6 myself on another
linux box using the cross compile environment as documented in the
wiki, actually tried doing it natively on the slug and after 24 hours
decided maybe it would finish someday but lost patience :)

so, there is no hardware reason why you cannot do it, only problems
specific to the particular distribution you use.. if you are not tied
to one for other reasons, maybe try debian?  its very nice :)
otherwise maybe someone more familiar with openwrt can help with the
problems there.

good luck

Hello,

Thanks for your response. I'm no sure I have all the skills to use
Debian and to compile asterisk myself.
I'm willing to change from openwrt to SlusOS/BE, SlusOS/LE (back to)
Unslung or any other. Looking for some reference on successful
chan_mobile asterisk implementations. So I can decide what to do.
Thanks in advance.

np..  if you get debian running I can send you the asterisk binaries
to save you the trouble of setting up a cross compile environment.
it's not very difficult, good howto docs on the wiki and debian website.

Hello,

Thanks for your kind offer. Just to be sure you are running real
debian, so not SlugOS/BE or SlugOS/LE. There is a lot of history to
the naming, and it is confusing. I will consider your offer. However
I'm still hoping someone got it running on Openwrt (saves me after
all a lot of work)

Jaap

I use debian on slug as described here
http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/Debian/HomePage and here
http://www.cyrius.com/debian/nslu2/

its very, very nice :)

However

personally i find fighting with the little distro's quirks,
limitations and repository hell a lot more work than installing a
proper system, but i have much experience with debian prior to the
slug so i am biased :)

good luck
