Audit event for Document View / Read

In reviewing DocumentEventTypes.java (org.nuxeo.ecm.core.api.event) I do not see an Event equivalent to a user 'view' or 'read' of the data. And I don't see a method of registering a new Core Event Type.

What I am after is the ability to create a log entry for every view of a document. Is there a way to achieve this through a simple contribution?
