BETA: FarCry Blog Distribution

Folks,

This Friday I'm doing an Adobe eSeminar on Blogging in CF.  More on
this later.

Ahead of this presentation we thought it might be nice to debut the
FarCry Blogging distro.  Basically FarCry Core, Blogging Plugin, and a
new concept for theming or skinning the app.  Ultimately this is
something that could be loaded into an existing FarCry solution,
however, what we are aiming for here is a specialist distribution just
for blogging.

We should have a shipping build for testing sometime later today.  If
anyone is interested in testing the build, especially ahead of my
presentation on Friday, your help would be gratefully received :)

Excellent news.  We have a bunch of changes going in throughout the
day.  There'll be a Mollio skin, but we're not focused on that.
Skittlish and a couple of others should be available by default, and
we're trying to make the whole theming thing as easy as possible.  If
you had a chance to try and implement a new theme, that would be
cool :)

I forgot to mention you'll need to put in a virtual to point to the
skinskittlish webroot eg. ./plugins/skinskittlish/www to pick up the
style sheets.  Alternatively you can copy that folder into the project
webroot (that's what the directory install would do for example).

Two things

firstly, you need to spell the plugin correctly - D'oh!

Secondly, for those playing at home and have not done this before; after coping css and js to every webroot location I could see
I took a look at the HTML source and it is looking for a directory in the webroot called skinskittlish (also spelt correctly - or should that be spelled)

I created a virtual directory so next time I updated from subversion I would not need to do anything.
for Apache it looks like this
    Alias /skinskittlish "E:\websites\fcBlog.webonix.org\farcry\plugins\skinskittlish\www"


So what will happen if you have a virtual directory
and then later use the Theme admin (coming soon) and it creates a real directory of the same name?
 - apache will fail to start
 - one will take precedence; if so which one?
 - just don't do it!!


Will there be somewhere that will list all the themes available for download?
