At page:

    http://www.gnu.org/software/texinfo/

    Basics:
    - The development sources via CVS, from savannah.gnu.org

I was wondering if it would be more correct to say that the latest
development is in GIT and point people to page:

    http://savannah.gnu.org/git/?group=texinfo

No, it would not be correct.  Texinfo development still uses CVS; Jim
Meyering set up the git as a read-only "mirror" because he wanted to get
it that way.  I don't use the git repo myself, nor do I have any plans
to switch Texinfo away from CVS.
