Beginner : Graphic Design With TikZ

Hi all,
I have designed a circular logo (for beer coasters) and I considering using TikZ to code it up. I am a programmer, but a LaTex novice and a complete TikZ noob. Particularly important to me is the ability to write text along the inside edge of the circle. Is this something TikZ is capable of?

Yes; you can easily do it with something called the "text along path"
decoration.  Check out page 266 of pgfmanual.pdf for this feature.
TikZ is very well documented, and the documentation is very easy to
grok.

If you describe your design in a bit more detail (or, better yet, if
you provide a scan or mock-up) we can give you specific pointers.
