I had a V3m also for a couple of years that was on the VZN network. VZN disables a lot of features on purpose just so you have to buy their stuff. Well, there are ways around that. After reading about how to modify the phone’s ‘registry’, I decided to take the plunge and do it. I used two programs that helped immensely. They are pk2seem (to edit the registry) and p2kcommander to move files. AWESOME. I now have another phone and use an SD card.

LG DARE BITPIM TEXT HELP

I am very new with BitPim. My LG Dare phone screen broke so I had a new phone sent. I did not want to lose contacts or some important text messages so I found BitPim. I was able to get all contacts and text messages off my broken LG DARE phone. I was able to load all the contacts on the new phone. I cannot get the messages back on the phone. There are some important messages regarding a contract with a purchase and I really would help getting this back on the phone. I am 1/2 way there - please provide some guidance! Denise

LG enV touch and Bitpim

I am using Ver 1.0.7 test and everything works great, but I have one question. After I make a ringer can I put it somewhere in the phone so I can send it out in as text message? I noticed that I can't send sounds out that are in the ringers folder, but I can send out sounds that are in the sounds folder. Anyway to get the ringers in the sounds folder?

LG vx9600 - Calendar (Google) Issue with GMT -6 vs. GMT -5 events

OS: WinXP

Phone: LG vx9600 - Verizon Wireless

Background: I have an appointment sent from Lotus Notes to my Outlook Calendar with a timestamp of 10AM (GMT -06:00) which translates to my local time of 11AM (GMT -05:00). I then use Google Sync to update my Google Calendar. Everything is fine to this point.

Problem: The problem comes when I import the calendar using the latest TEST version of BitPim. I have not attempted the official release, but suspect the same issue would be present. BitPim appears to use the time of the appointment without applying the GMT offset.

More information: When I do import the data using BitPim, I see two entries for the appointment. One is the GMT -6 entry and the other is the GMT -5. The only one that appears on the calendar is the GMT -6.

Has anyone encountered this before? I will make an attempt at looking at the source code and create a workaround.

I don't think everyone has the problem. My phone is a part of a low level family plan with free verizon to verizon calls. I think they want me to send my pictures by email so I will be be billed for each transaction.

I downloaded "BitBim Test" to a Suse Linux 10.0 machine. It comes only as an rpm or windows file. I was able to duplicate the problem I had on my ubuntu 8.04.3 laptop, but I had to run it as [sudo bitpim] in a terminal window to get it to that point.

I also was able to duplicate the problem with bluetooth on my laptop, (Access to the file/directory has been blocked on this phone by the phone provider)

I tried it on a Windows XP machine and couldn't get anywhere.

Thanks for you help. I am still hoping someone has an answer, but I think David may be right.

Verizon didn't LOCK-OUT the entire devices from working over 'wifi' until you

get your 2-year-contract activated. My exact question was: "Can I pay FULL-PRICE

for either of these two devices, and use it as a hand-held computer to access the

Internet via the wifi-link (and just not-make phone-calls)?"

You shouldn't be surprised, when the answer from Verizon came back:

user (like me), one thing I'd try would be to boot up Windows (XP or Vista, or Win-7...whatever's handy), install the Windows-version of Bitpim there, and see

if the behavior is any different. [I don't have that phone, but I suspect you'll

get the same behavior.]

<RANT-ON>I just ran into this 'locked out' crap again this past week, as I inquired about

the two new VZ/Google phones (Moto Droid and HTC Eris) 'touch phone/PDAs' that

Verizon is show-casing. They both have 'wifi-feature', which WOULD BE cool, if

Verizon didn't LOCK-OUT the entire devices from working over 'wifi' until you

get your 2-year-contract activated. My exact question was: "Can I pay FULL-PRICE

for either of these two devices, and use it as a hand-held computer to access the

Internet via the wifi-link (and just not-make phone-calls)?"

You shouldn't be surprised, when the answer from Verizon came back:

"No. (Sorry.)"

Clicking the Phone Info button gives Phone Info OK.

Clicking the Filesystem button gives me view of the phone filesystem. As
it downloads the information I see numbers flashing on my phone and hear

numbers flashing and the dialing tones on the phone.
