Bluetooth module disappearedHi all,
first of all thanks for all the information floating through this channel, I have only been a quiet reader so far. Now I am facing a rather strange problem so I am turning to you all-knowing tuxers =) First my configuration: Lenovo Thinkpad X60 Ubuntu 9.04 with 2.6.28-15-generic #52-Ubuntu SMP x86_64 Kernel Here is the problem: From time to time my bluetooth module used to disappear, for booting, the chance was somehow 60% that the bt-module would be found, so whenever I really needet bt, I just rebooted till i have it... not a good solution, but it was working. Sadly. since a few weeks ago, bt keeps away now. I attached the log of a script of mine, that deactivates bt on startup. Do you guys have any idea, what this could be or what I could do to narrow down possible reasons? Installing Windows and trying to get it running is not the kind of solution I would like to try in the first place =) Thanks so much in advance... Here are some diagnostic info: dmesg| grep Bluetooth: [ 0.572010] Bluetooth: Core ver 2.13 [ 0.572022] Bluetooth: HCI device and connection manager initialized [ 0.572022] Bluetooth: HCI socket layer initialized [ 2.105725] Bluetooth: L2CAP ver 2.11 [ 2.105726] Bluetooth: L2CAP socket layer initialized [ 2.105729] Bluetooth: SCO (Voice Link) ver 0.6 [ 2.105730] Bluetooth: SCO socket layer initialized [ 2.105776] Bluetooth: RFCOMM socket layer initialized [ 2.105782] Bluetooth: RFCOMM TTY layer initialized [ 2.105783] Bluetooth: RFCOMM ver 1.10 [ 33.508107] Bluetooth: BNEP (Ethernet Emulation) ver 1.3 [ 33.508110] Bluetooth: BNEP filters: protocol multicast lsusb Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Bus 005 Device 002: ID 0483:2016 SGS Thomson Microelectronics Fingerprint Reader Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub echo enabled > /proc/acpi/ibm/bluetooth bash: /proc/acpi/ibm/bluetooth: No such file or directory echo 1 > /sys/devices/platform/thinkpad_acpi/bluetooth_enable bash: /sys/devices/platform/thinkpad_acpi/bluetooth_enable: No such file or directory The bluetoothd is running as well as the bluetooth-applet... disable Blurtooth in the BIOS (mine does not), did you check there as well? Re: Bluetooth module disappearedHi Henrique,
risking to appear stupid: I couldn't find the sources of thinkpad-acpi, only patches (source forge), so I only loaded my present thinkpad-acpi with the debug=0xffff parameter and attached the kernel log. Does this help already or should I rather continue searching for sources to do what you said? Thank you so much for your effort ;-) Rainer Henrique de Moraes Holschuh schrieb: > On Sat, 07 Nov 2009, Rainer Rehak wrote: >> Henrique de Moraes Holschuh schrieb: >>>> /sys/class/rfkill is empty >>> If you compiled the kernel with rfkill support, that means the bluetooth >>> system is disabled in the BIOS. >> Erm... definitely no: >> >> $ cat /boot/config-2.6.31-14-generic | grep RFKILL >> CONFIG_RFKILL=y >> CONFIG_RFKILL_LEDS=y >> CONFIG_RFKILL_INPUT=y >> CONFIG_RT2X00_LIB_RFKILL=y >> >> and for BIOS-BT settings, pls check the attachment. >> >> Thx for any other ideas? =) > > None.
