*Protection of the property of Brahmo (divine) society of Dhaka from the
hands of land grabbers urged*

Speakers in a seminar organized by Dhaka Brahmo Society and held in
Dhaka Reporters Unity urged the government to protect 150 years old
traditional property of Brahmo society from the hands of illegal land
grabbers. The speakers told that notorious land grabber Sikdar Construction
grabbed Raja Rammohan Rai library on February 11. Prosuto kanti Somaddar,
general secretary of a faction of Brahmo society told that two cases were
lodged with Judge Court and High court against land grabber Nuruzzaman
Sheikh. The construction work was still going on even on High court's
injunction on the construction work. Sikdar Construction threatened them to
death for lodging a case. The speakers alleged that some men of Brahmo
society in exchange of taka 1 crore (billion) and 20 lakh(million) handed
over the traditional property to the circle of land grabbers. The speakers
urged the caretaker government to protect 150 years old property of the
Brahmo society. Leaders of Brahmo society Sushanta Chandra Chanda, Mukul
Chandra Rai, Nil Kamal Ghosh and Bimal Majumdar were present in the press
conference.
