Browse Projects per Groups of Users

Salutations,

Right now, users can browse Issues of a Project depending on the Permission that was granted to them by the Administrators.

Administrators can add them via "Browse Projects" of any Permission Scheme of a Project.

When including a "Groups" in the "Browse Project", this groups has the access of viewing the Issues of that Project.

Is there a way or an approach in JIRA that you can control the viewing of Issues of Projects as per Group? Meaning, only users of the Group can view their own Issues. Group A can't view the Issues of Group B and vice versa.

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried [JIRA's Issue Security|http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Setting+Security+on+an+Issue]?  Creating a security levels which different users/groups/roles will allow you to have finer control then permission at the project level.

Configuring Issue Level Security - http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Configuring+Issue+Level+Security

Hi Timothy,

Thanks for the reply.

I've tried using the Security Levels.

I observed that inorder for it to be enabled, it needs someone to input what Level the issue should be.

In my case:
When User A creates an issue, only User A and its Group A will be able to view that issue. Same thing goes with User B and its Group B when creating issues.

Btw, I tried including the "Reporter" in the Browse Project of a Permission. It restricted the viewing of the issue to the Reporter. The only problem is the issue was not viewable by other users within the reporter's group.

In short,
Is there any approach that only the users and its group can view their own issues of a project?

Thanks.

Hmm, yea, if you put reporter only, only the reporter can see that issue and not its group.  I think what you are looking for is a custom listener that listens for an issue which is created, and update the issue's security level as needed.  I think there is such a plugin out there but I cant seem to find it..

Cheers,
Timothy

I use the plugin that sets security level based on Reporter's group. It works well.

Hi Neal,

Thanks for the Link.

Just finished testing it and it works.

This is a great addition in our JIRA.

Again thanks.
