The problem has been discussed recently and it was found, that a straight apostrophe cannot be represented in a portable way. http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/groff/2009-02/msg00013.html https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=2412738&group_id=21935&atid=373747 Using `\(aq' creates a problem with non-GNU troff, because it is a GROFF extension and doesn't output anything with AT&T troff. So I have to tag this wontfix for the moment. Regards, Daniel -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-REQUEST@... with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact listmaster@... |

Can we at least have an option to produce manual pages that are non-portable while being displayed correctly on Debian systems? -- Jakub Wilk -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-REQUEST@... with a subject of "unsubscribe". I won't implement such an option. There is no reason to add a way to produce un-portable manual pages. If you want to do this you'll find a workaround you can put in your customization layer in [1]. I think that with the solution above <http://bugs.debian.org/507673#65>, we can have both portability and correct display. But nobody has responded to my comment on the DocBook tracker or this Debian bug. Anders -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-REQUEST@... with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? But I did not yet find a way to test this on Solaris. Regards, Daniel -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-REQUEST@... with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact listmaster@... |

I’ve just tested a manpage generated with docbook-xsl 1.75.2+dfsg-3, and it also works correctly on Solaris 10 (where \(aq did not work).
