Bug#553449: xorg-server: Please use the nvidia driver before nv if it is present on the system

Package: xorg-server
Severity: wishlist

Once the nvidia-glx package is installed it should be used, too. There
already is a patch here:
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/xserver/commit/?id=66fb253082ea42179180303393e48846208987fa
that tries nvidia before nv. It was reverted upstream though, because they
don't want to enable drivers that don't ship with xorg.
I tried the patch and as a result Xorg worked perfectly fine without
configuration on a system with nvidia graphics not supported by nv.

Thanks,
Jonas Meyer

No, we don't want to enable non-free drivers by default. If people want
to use them, they have to explicitly say it.
