Package: kdebase-workspace-bin
Version: 4:4.3.2-2
Severity: normal

*** Please type your report below this line ***
Hi,

since last week I have a constant base CPU load of
~ 20 % which is caused by plasma-desktop.

I have no idea what this application do constantly.

How can I determine it?

After killing and restarting plasma-desktop the CPU load
is the same.

Thank you,
Erik

It's probably a buggy plasmoid (widget) causing this.

Keep removing plasma widgets until usage drops. Start from non-standard ones
(those which you installed separately or which were not present when you
started using KDE 4).

If I remove the "Systray" widget from the panel, then the CPU will
idle.
If I add the widget again, the CPU will be loaded again.

plasma-widgets-workspace.

Ok, now try changing systray widget settings and/or quitting apps which are

Btw, this is probably either

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=211318

or

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=207177

Try workaround described in those reports.
