Hello,
I've the same behaviour on my machine (running also AMD64)

It seems to be related to the version of Qt. See this bug report in Arch Linux
http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/16478

The workaround is to disable the "3 star input option".
Can somebody tell me how to do this with KDE 4 ? I can't find anymore
the option (was obvious with KDE3)
