Bug#554323: FTBFS with binutils-gold

Hello,

I'm sure the particular reference issue of ViewFactors is one of many in
Elmer which have this problem.  Can I take your post to mean that
linking with --no-add-needed will turn up all instances of this problem?
If so, I will consider adding that to Elmer's build options in order to
make sure that I patch it so it builds cleanly before uploading.
